Kris Kristofferson is an American country music singer cum songwriter who is famous for his hit, Me and Bobby McGee. He has a unique gravelly voice that adds some bite into his music.
As a young man, Kris was an excellent writer and a competitive athlete. When Kris was studying at the college of California, he was a Golden Gloves boxer. In 1960, Kris joined the US Army as an Army Ranger. Nine years later, Kris left the military and teamed up with Johnny Cash to start his music career. In 1971, Kris won his first Grammy award for the best country song. The song was titled, Help Me Make It Through the Night. Additionally, Kris had a stint as an actor. In fact, in 1976, he won the Globe award for the film, A Star Is Born.
